Ugh so pissed! May have to change doctor

Recommended Posts

Had my consult on dec 16. Got a call from the dr's office in early jan that all was good. Went for my pulmonary and upper gi tests. Spoke to my insurance comp today (anthem bcbs) and they are now saying my hospital is not a blue hospital of distinction and I won't be covered there. My dr is a dr of excellence or something like that. I called the office and they are confused too. They have other anthem patients that haven't had a problem. Ugh. I want to know ASAP so I can keep my time frame and change dr's if need be. I hate this. Will I have to start from scratch? Has this happened to anyone else?

Did you call them or did they call you? Because of the type of specialty surgery, even if they are not a usual hospital, it can be approved... the doctors office should contact the insurance company and find out what's up... good luck!

That's what they are going to do. I have my fingers crossed for a good outcome!

There are 2 hospitals in my area and only one is considered a 'bariatric hospital of excellence'. I had to use that hospital for Anthem to pay. I did it and was sleeved on 1/20. Doing well now.

It's a hoop you have to jump through with them. I'd get busy and change Doctors before investing too much time.

Okay, I have an appt with a different dr on feb 19. I can still keep my cardia and pulmonary appts and have it all transferred over. Wish me luck!
