nycsleever 1 Posted February 6, 2014 Hello everyone! I am new to this, I've been reading but not posting. Here's some info about me; I was sleeved on 12/09/13. It will be 2 months in a couple days from today. My surgery weight was 256. On 1/9/14 I was 237 that's 19 pounds the first month. Today I weigh about 231. For my second month I only lost 6-7 pounds. Is this normal? I thought it would be a lot more for some reason. To be honest I haven't started exercising yet and have had pizza twice. The hardest thing for me is the head hunger. I always want to eat something unhealthy. Can anyone give me tips on how to fight head hunger and the feeling to "eat something good". I hope I lose more my third month! Schmincke 118 Posted February 6, 2014 You might find it easier if you stick to the basic rules as outlined by my surgeon and nutritionist. I have posted these before: Count grams of Protein and ounces of liquid. Make sure to get 60-80 grams of Protein a day. Drink 60+ ounces of Fluid (preferably more). No drinking for 30 minutes before or after a meal. At every meal: Eat protein first, then veggies, then if there is any room left, eat fruit, then carbs (but probably will only have room for protein). Take Vitamins every day. Exercise every day, at least a half hour. No junk. Nothing with more than 5 grams of sugars. If I start to slide on the carbohydrates, especially the simple ones like sugar, then the head hunger gets worse. If I keep up my fluids and protein, it gets better. So, if I have really bad head hunger, I drink a Protein shake. Also if I exercise, the head hunger gets better. It is a balancing act - if I keep the bad carbs away, then I can balance much better. I know lots of other people on this forum say similar things. But don't be discouraged if you follow the rules and still get a stall. Everybody has a "ladder-shaped" weight loss and there are some excellent postings on this topic too. Still - 6 or 7 pounds weight loss in a month is GOOD! It's more than a pound a week, so don't beat yourself up. You are in this to change yourself over the long term. I hope this helps - you really WILL do it! 3 Domika03, hatters and ohgosch reacted to this

Getting the liquids in is a challenge. But I hired a personal trainer and start this weekend. Looking forward to this journey! 1 Schmincke reacted to this
Carlotta1 401 Posted February 6, 2014 I had the surgery the same day as u. Dec 9th .. I was at a two week stall several weeks ago ...so I started my exercise routine. 5 days a week ...1/2 hour medium intensity cardio. Then I alternate between upper body/lower body exercise with machines. So I exercise one hour , 5 days a week. I lost 3 pounds in one week after I started exercising, I am now consistently losing .. Don't do your exercise leisurely, push yourself .somewhat. If u r not using myfitnesspal, then start., My calorie intake is 800 calories per day,, 65-70 grams of Protein per day. BladeFox 235 Posted February 6, 2014 I think it's the fact that you haven't begun exercising yet. You may see greater results with exercise otherwise it will be slower.
joatsaint 2,814 Posted July 31, 2015 When I get head hunger, and just can't escape it's nagging, I eat meat, chicken or pork first to fill me up and retrain my brain to associate meat with head hunger. After eating Protein, and I still have that nagging little voice, I will allow myself a small portion (remember I'm physically full from the protein), about 1/2 a coffee cup (a real coffee cup, not a Starbucks Grande!) of whatever I'm craving. I'm normally satisfied after that.
