YES!!! I had a total aversion to food period! It will get better, I am able to eat pretty much anything I want now at nearly 12 weeks out. I try to stick the plan as much as I can but if I want a cookie, I have a cookie...ONE cookie! LOL

Absolutely normal to feel this way. Don't forget your not healed yet and your probably still swollen some and feel awful there as well. Who really wants to eat when you feel yucky. Anyway.. Part of the problem too is that fear of what comes next is also an issue.. If i try to eat real food what will happen.. It is all normal and a process that we must go through to learn to be healthier and recover and to succeed.

Try a little at a time and if your stomach can't handle something..Don't eat it and try it at a later date......

Yes. Although I do get hungry, I still have food aversion issues. Try slowly to add a tablespoon of soft food here and there--yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Just to remind your stomach why it's there. It will get better.

Not scared to eat just have no appiette, I feel normal and was back at work 3 days post op. I have always been that person who forgot meals that was probably why i had a weight issue because with my career you eat on the go when you can. Part of my diet plan has addressed this issue with pre planning daily meals.

Yes, quite normal. For some, they experience this lack of hunger for years and for others not at all. And then there are most of us who start to get the hungers again after month 5 or 6. Everyone is different. Enjoy the ride!

Yes, its normal. I told my nurse the same thing at that point and she said as long as I was hitting my liquid goals and Protein goals then she wasn't worried.

I'd say it's normal. I'm gratefull I don't have an appetite. I can walk past the Bakery in our local grocery store and not even flinch!!!!!!!!!!! Sure wouldn't have happened pre-surgery. food has become nothing but fuel for me. Something I have to do or else my brain starts to malfunction.

I've also found since I no longer use coffee to wake up in the morning--food has become my new "wake-up". That first cup of coffee used to get me going in the morning. Now I don't feel like I'm "awake" so to speak until I've eaten my Breakfast. I find I MUST get my 8 hours of sleep every night also or it's very hard to fully function the next day.

I wish I had no appetite, but I guess I'm one of the unlucky ones. The nice thing is even though I do get hungry, it's not as bad as it was pre-surgery and after 1/3 cup or so of a pureed meal, I completely lose interest in food for 3-4 hours, so the sleeve works,

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
