bfan5 5 Posted February 6, 2014 Banded 1yr today. Lost 30 lbs fr Feb -- Sept. Slow but no probs. Plateaued till Dec. Week before Christmas had lots of reflux ,heartburn. Then awakened one night with feeling of fullness in stomach. Called Surgeons office and was told to go to emerge. Dr there removed total amt of fill. Thinking last fill which was my 5th fill was too much. First three days after unfill was unbelievably hungry And thirsty. Got partially refilled three weeks after. Then half fill two days ago. Which means one more fill in a month to catch up. Gained 9 lbs back and can't seem to lose it. Keeps losing and gaining 3-4 lbs every other day. Have gotten back on track. Journaling and going walking track at gym 45 -50 min 5-6 days a week. Stressed . Thinking the bands not going to work again. Any suggestions ??? 1 kll724 reacted to this
Jim1967 3,569 Posted February 6, 2014 Have you told all this to your Doctor? Sounds like you may be on see-saw with your fills and either not getting enough or getting too much. Have they done a fluoroscopy to check the shape of your band? Perhaps getting a fill with a fluoroscopy may help. 3 kll724, ADJL and catfish87 reacted to this
2muchfun 8,927 Posted February 6, 2014 I don't see much information from you but you might want to eliminate the idea that the band does the work? The band is there to assuage your appetite not to stop you from eating. How many calories do you consume a day? Do you track every calorie you consume? What kind of exercise? What kind of foods do you eat? Losing weight is simple math. Burn more calories than you consume and you lose weight. This may be as little as .5 lbs per week so don't expect big swings of 3-4 lbs per week unless you're eating slider foods or sweets? Go back to how you behaved when you lost weight last spring? What were you doing different? 6 alicesandra, nikkidcas, catfish87 and 3 others reacted to this
kll724 3,055 Posted February 6, 2014 Congrats on your bandiversary! Looks like you are getting back on track. As already said above, the band doesn't work by itself. Take care, make sure that you are getting your Protein, and exercise. Karen..aka..kll724 2 catfish87 and ADJL reacted to this
ADJL 685 Posted February 6, 2014 Stress keeps you from losing weight too. I think if you just continue doing the right things the band will help you succeed. Like 2MF said...it's simple math...so relax and keep moving and you'll see the weight start to drop off. 2 bfan5 and catfish87 reacted to this
bfan5 5 Posted February 6, 2014 Thanks for the response everyone. I'm 60 yrs old. Have fibromyalgia and on going problems with abdominal Hernias for which I've had several surgeries. Really thinking the probs I had before Christmas had nothing to do with band but was because after just having fill had couple Surgeon appts and all the poking and probing probably caused the stomach and abdominal pain. The Doc I saw in Emerge was not familiar with Bariatic surgery so deflated the band Just to be safe. I do journal everyday. Always walked anywhere from 30 40 min. Since Xmas I've been doing 45-50 min walking at gym. Sometimes 60but mostly 50-55. Just can't seem to understand why the weight loss just stopped ! Checked back in journal and during Xmas did eat more carbs and sweets but have never gone over calorie Limit which is 1250 for me. Mostly 950-1100. Also not sure I've ever reached sweet spot. Not sure i really know what sweet spot is. Started the 5 Day pouch test today. Fee,ing bit more encouraged . Hopefully this will help. 2 catfish87 and ADJL reacted to this
