anybody else have issues 2 months out?

Recommended Posts

So as I type this I am on day 2 of being in the hospital. I can't consume anything by mouth without vomiting for the past week. I had surgery Nov 25, 2013 and minus a few typical bumps in the road at the very beginning, I have been doing great. Now they have no idea what's wrong. :( anyone else experience anything similar?

Thanks guys! They're concerned it's ulcers. So another night in the hospital and more tests tomorrow it is! Can't wait to start losing the weight that's been pumped into me over the past 2-3 days! It's like being in recovery all over again! Lol

So the results are in. Since surgery I have developed an ulcer, hiatal hernia and gastritis. Can't even hold down the medications so I am still in the hospital. Even though I have followed all the rules to a T it's important to remember to follow the rules and treat your pouch carefully! I'd hate to know how much worse this could be if I hadn't!

How do you develop a hernia like that without over eating? Hat type of hernia is at the top of your stomach and over eating causes the top of your stomach to mushroom out. Since you just had this surgery, my guess is that you already had that hernia and the doc didn't repair it during your gastric bypass. I would question that.

By all means ask the doctor about the type, how it may have occurred and what can be done, if anything, to prevent it in the future. But don't automatically assume the doctor is negligent. Incisional hernias are common after ANY type of abdominal surgery and can be caused by not following your doctors recommendations for weight and activity restrictions. Once they cut the abdominal wall (or anywhere) the area is weakened and hernias can happen. Some hernias may happen when stitches are placed too far apart, others may have occurred before surgery because heavy people are susceptible to them. If an existing hernia is missed it may not have been in the immediate area of the surgery. Laporoscopic surgery only covers a very small area.

I suspect I may have an incisional hernia (from December's gallbladder removal), so I researched to learn about them. I'm going to mention it to my doctor at my 9 month follow-up in two weeks.

I would question the same thing except for the fact that I have not been able to eat more than 4 oz at any time since surgery, and that's on a good day. Also I had to have an EGD before the surgery to determine if I had any issues, like ulcers and hernias. And yea, you could say the dr missed it except it was the same dr performing the tests yesterday as before the surgery. The only thing I can suspect is that I may have done it after attempting to complete a fitness test for work. I had been cleared for all physical activity before attempting it, but I hit my stomach pretty hard. I don't know, that's just my idea.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
