I'm so nervous! As of now I have no saline in my band, as they wanted it to heal beforehand. Tomorrow is my first fill and I'm so nervous! I don't know what to expect. Any and all advice would be appreciated! :)

It'll be easy! I was nervous too!! But it was so painless....imagine a flu shot, if that.

Depending on the method they use, it could vary.

When I go now, if were gonna do an adjustment, they just have me stand up on a tilt table, insert the needle directly into the port, remove the saline that was in my band system ( to make sure there wasn't any missing ), Dr. looks at it to check the color, etc. Then he will add that back, plus any if needed......while WATCHING my restriction level on the monitor. That way he knows what my restriction level is. NO GUESSING. However, not all doc's do it this way....

Beings that it is your first adjustment, he/she will probably not "push the limits", which is a good thing. They may have you stay on liquids for some time, then progress as tolerated. Just follow their advice and guidance and you'll do fine.

Come back tomorrow and let us know how it goes! Best wishes. :)

I had my first fill last month. I was more worried about that than surgery. My doc numbed my port area and then put a little saline in. Then gave me a little Water to see if it would stay down. Then I was on Clear Liquids that day. Full liquids the next. A day of soft, then solids. It's really not too bad. Good Luck!

my fills have always followed the same routine: lay down on the table, make sure my legs are slightly bent up so they have an easier time feeling around my stomach for the port, let them numb up the area with numbing needles & the woman who does them goes right on in with it! Hands me a little bottle of Water to make sure it goes down right, and then she asks me to stay on liquids for 24 hours after. That's pretty much it. first one might seem scary but it's not once you get it done with, and pretty quick!

Go to youtube and search for lapband fills. Lots of examples and I've never seen one where there was any pain involved. It's simple and quick.

Most fills are pretty easy. My surgeon, always, numbs the area. Sometimes, he will have me stand in front of the flouroscope to watch the fill go thru my tube. He has us follow a liquid diet for 4 days, 2 clear and two full. Best wishes, Karen..aka.kll724

Thanks guys! It went well! I'm down 23.5 lbs since the surgery and he put in 2ccs of saline. I was told to be on liquids for 2 days then gradually progress to regular food. Next fill is in 6 weeks, I'm so excited!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
