gohelpyourself 377 Posted February 6, 2014 I have no trouble getting in fluids. I took 3 good sized sips without any problem and probably could have tolerated more but was afraid. Did they even removed 80percent of my stomach? I was able to eat an entire yogurt too. Also, no bowel movement in days. No urge at all. Any feedback is appreciated. yolanda527 3 Posted February 6, 2014 I have only moved my bowels once a week since I've been sleeved. When I was able to eat yogurt I did eat the entire 6oz container a few times. It's been 5 weeks and I can only eat half before I am full.
FitnFabfor2014 358 Posted February 6, 2014 You've only gone 1 time a week? Isn't it painful when you go? I haven't gone in three days, so I just took some milk of magnesium. I can only eat a half of the container of yogurt (3 oz). I see there are quite a few people who can eat the 6 full oz with no problem.
yolanda527 3 Posted February 6, 2014 No pain at all. I do get gassy on the day of action but that's it. I was thinking of adding something to my Water to go more often but quite honestly I forget about not going. 1 FitnFabfor2014 reacted to this
gohelpyourself 377 Posted February 6, 2014 how about the amount of food and drink you can tolerate in one sitting? iam just 2 days post op and I can drink and eat a good amount 4oz at one. Is this bad? 1 1Day1Life4Now reacted to this
yolanda527 3 Posted February 6, 2014 Im not sure what's considered bad or good. I drink slowly throughout the day but not 4oz at once. I can EAT 4oz at a time but I am also 5 weeks out
FitnFabfor2014 358 Posted February 6, 2014 2 days post op and no pain or discomfort when you eat it? You are very lucky! No, I don't think that's bad at all. 2 1Day1Life4Now and gohelpyourself reacted to this
VSG AJH 499 Posted February 6, 2014 I had zero trouble taking in fluids immediately after surgery. I too felt concerned, but not struggling with Fluid intake is a blessing. I've had no trouble hitting both my Water and Protein goals from the very beginning, and as others will come along to say, the restriction really does improve as you move along to denser foods and Proteins. As for the bowel stuff, it's normal for your bowels to take a few days to start back up again after abdominal surgery. I experienced the same thing post-VSG and post C-Section a few times. I do recommend taking a stool softener for a couple of days so that when it is time to go, it's more comfortable to go. 1 gohelpyourself reacted to this
rensterness 375 Posted February 6, 2014 I am just reaching four months out and I still have problems occasionally with my bowl movements as I did after surgery. I take Equate, Walmart brand stool softener daily. The percentage of your stomach you need to find out directly from your doctor. A lot of people will give you the answer of 1/3rd, but percentages for different programs and per patient requests varies. Your doing great! Welcome to the other side :-) :-)
