starting to get cold feet

Do you notice on of your incisions hurts more?? Its the one where they pull your stomach out of. They do must of the 'work' at one incision site. My doctor used just steri strips on all the puncture sites but the bigger one (the aforementioned one) he put a couple dissolvable stitches in. That one bugs me the most. If you have adhesive tape marks lil nail polish remover will get rid of that.. the acetone will melt it off you. My belly is so itchy from the incisions healing.

Yeah it the big one that's bothering me...... altogether I have 5 incisions the other 4 are starting to itch and the band they have me wearing isn't making it any better lol

Heating pads work wonders for the gas pain! I had my heating almost 24/7 the first week!

My surgery is scheduled for Tuesday the 18th and I too and am feeling this way. I had a major melt down last night and have had this anxious feeling in the pit of my stomach all day today. I thank God for being able to come here and read everyone's thoughts and advice.

My first post here -- even that makes me nervous! I completed the weight loss pre-surgery program with one hospital, got clearance from my insurance and decided I was not comfortable. I think it's important to listen to those little intuitions and I visited a second facility and surgeon. What a difference! I know its going to make a difference in my confidence level, taking the time to find the right surgeon & after care support that's right for me. Now, I'm just feeling impatient, waiting to get cleared (again!). My only fear now, that my husband and daughter will hate the changes that need to be made in our house. Like my dysfunction is rubbing off on them. I know, in the end, it will improve their health as well -- but I'm afraid of their disappointment at having to change 'for me'.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
