Hello everyone,

First post and I am right out of the gate with a rant. I have come here to learn more about my bariatric surgery(VSG)

and To make a long story short i am PAYING CASH !!!

I don't know the rules yet on listing the business by name but I had some questions i would like to get answered.

My Story is that I am doing this surgery (VSG) with my Fiance. So we are PAYING OUT OF POCKET for two surgeries.

I was cleared this past week and the surgery scheduler called me and asked when i would like to perform my Sleeve. I told her i am holding

off till my Fiance is cleared--meaning she passes her Psych evaluation and we are getting it done together...

Fiance was cleared this past Friday for surgery and as of Monday we never even got a call??? Thinking really nothing of it my fiance called on Tuesday and she was kinda given the run around and no one there in the office could really asnwer some pretty basic questions. We had placed a total of 3 calls and one email and nothing !!! This company was not like that though?? they always had answers and they always returned phone calls and email till Tuesday.

WE finally got an answer and that was the company was going to call us today at 0900 and tell us some things. 0900 comes and no phone cal. 09:20 comes and stil no phone call so I called them and spoke with a Lisa.

Long story short--she said that she didnt think that her company "BS" is the best fit for us?????? i am blown away and said i was just scheduled this past week and i waited on my fiance to get cleared and now your telling me i cant have a surgery i am PAYING CASH FOR???? WTF ????

I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING SO ASANINE IN MY LIFE AS THIS ???

MY QUESTION IS HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ANYONELSE WHEN YOU WERE PAYING CASH????

Take your business elsewhere. I'm sure most places would love the cash. That's your omen to not have it with them.

I agree. But they may just be looking out for your best interest (in a way). Having someone able to help you with recovery would be ideal. If you do it at the same time, you won't be able to help each other. However, I agree with Lil Red, you should always feel comfortable with the surgeon and they shouldn't jerk you around. I would switch surgeons. When you're spending that much money, you should get a certain level of service, in my opinion (I am also self-pay!)

Maybe this has happened for a reason (sounds strange, I know). Take your hard earned cash to another surgeon. There are plenty of good ones who will gladly take your money.

If you really feel that unsatisfied file a complaint with the better business bureau. They at a minimum owe you an explanation.

By the way you might be able to save some money if you buy a plan off of the exchange that covers wls. You'll still likely have out of pocket expenses but you're getting an insurance contract discount which sometimes can be less than a self pay discount

Good luck

Thanks guys I really appreciate the replies and input but I'm still waiting to hear from anybody out there that has actually gone through this been scheduled for surgery and then all of a sudden the company backs out of the agreement not me?

I had spent a lot of money on getting a place for our dog who has to be boarded...we had to borrow some help in getting up to the hospital and being able to return home the next day .

there's just a lot of information and a lot of money that went into the planning of all this and I just don't know what to do if anything from A legal standpoint!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
