Unfill or just swollen?

Recommended Posts

I am on my 3rd fill and have 6cc in my band. I am unable to tolerate anything other than mushy and liquids. Some have said the band is swollen after a fill or with weather change. I just don't want to unfill when my fills cost me $265 each time. Not covered by my insurance. :( Help!!

It sounds like you are a bit overfilled. It is really up to you if you can manage this ...it may loosen a bit. You just need to make sure you are getting your Water in you don't want to get dehydrated. You also don't want to get stuck or be throwing up. Gods luck

As long as you are able to have mushies and liquids, you should be ok. Give it time. After a fill, even a week later, I can still be tight, especially if under stress, flying, etc.. You can survive and thrive on what you are getting down now. If you have reflux, can't get Water down, or pb ... You might just have to unfill a bit. It seems like most peeps here have been told to have fluids for the first 24??

be patient. as long as you are able to drink you have the time to wait this out. the fill before this fill it took me over 2 weeks before i graduated to solids. everyone told me to be patient. i was and it worked. i had another fill a month later. i even had gallbladder surgery without having any Fluid removed from my band. i had the fill on the 23rd and i still go back and forth between mushies, solids and liquids. but i will be patient. i don't understand unless you are unable to keep any fluids down why you would want to do a unfill. like you said they are expensive. good luck to you

Were you losing weight during those two weeks or did your body go into starvation mode? That is my fear with limited calorie intake.

Ive been "knowingly" (no bones about it) too tight for 1 week now. Im talking Night Coughs, sliming from drinking Water, unable to swallow spit.

This week alone ive lost my very FIRST 11lbs in 6 months.

I paid outta pocket & let me say again, my first 11lbs & Ive gotta be this miserable to do it???

Today is the 8th day w/this fill level & I feel a lot better. Im onto Soups & Protein shakes for now until this band's swelling subsides some more.

I walk walk walk the stuck pain away until the sliming stops & walking also forces the food or liquids thru. So does warm showers & heating pads until this thing loosens on its own.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
