Deciphering what my band is telling me...?

Recommended Posts

Hi all Happpy Hump Day!

So I am 1 week post-op, and on full liquids at this point. I have been struggling to get my Proteins and fluids in daily. The past two days have been better but still not great. I am sipping Water throughout the day as I can tolerate. This morning I woke feeling a little nauseated, nothing extreme but enough to be like "what the heck does this mean" but then I was also like is this what hunger feels like now, since I have not been hungry since surgery. Has anyone experienced this feeling? I still trying to figure what all my band is telling me and when I feel like this it makes me not want to eat or drink anything in case it would make it worse but I worried I am not getting enough nutrition/hydration already.

Any thoughts or ideas let me know!

Jessie :)

Your doctor should have given you a prescription for nausea and if he didn't you need to call him and get one. Right now so newly post op it will be hard to get all your nutrition in but that will only be short lived.

I agree with Cheryl and I'd add that until your band is adjusted properly it may not be telling you anything. It took me 3 fills before I heard anything from Ms Band.

The nutrition guidelines are primarily for patients who are beyond the healing phase. Until you're cleared to eat normal solid foods I wouldn't be overly concerned with getting in every gram of Protein and Fluid recommended by your nutritionist. You can only do what your body allows you. Forcing too much in the way of Water or Proteins beyond what your body tells you it can tolerate wouldn't be advisable. jmo

Hi! I am really new to this forum and had my lapband done on January 23. I can say that I think a lot of my nausuea came from the gas pain and what I thought might be hunger also. I felt like I was starving but not able to eat anything. I did take the nausuea pills the dr. gave me and if nothing else they helped me sleep it off.

Thanks for the feedback. The surgeon did give me meds for nausea but at follow he said I wouldn't need to use the refill. Guess he was wrong, went to the pharmacy this afternoon. Feel much better and calmer.

Be sure to drink lots of Water. You do NOT want to become dehydrated.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
