This is a longer one, but so powerful..I've had this on my fridge for years (along with sev. others, as I am somewhat of a quote collector : )

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."

That line.... Who are you not to be???? Hit me to the core.... I can be talented, healthier, even pretty? I haven't allowed myself to feel pretty for years. I find that now that my face has slimmed down.... I want to wear makeup. I want pretty earrings....I want a new hairstyle. Thanks fellow "Quote Collector."

These are wonderful! Thanks so much for this thread. Here's my contribution -- wish I had the source but it's long forgotten. And Parisshel may need to give me a French lesson!

"Faire et se taire" which is roughly translated as Shut Up And Get On With It! Maybe I'll tape that one across the top of my treadmill.

My favorites

Dont be afraid to give yourself everything you've ever wanted in life

Dont expect everyone to understand your journey especially if they've never walked on your path

Sometimes the strongest people are the ones who love beyond all faults, cry behind closed doors, and fight battles that nobody knows about

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
