Very funny! Now that it's February I can let myself start thinking about gardening -- as in planning for April when we can start.

Zephyrhills here, east of Tampa. My wife and I came out of Winn Dixie the other day feeling crappy. Too darn cold in there, bones ached, felt like we did when we were frozen yanks. We thanked each other for moving to the heat and the sun. She's Annette and I'm Frankie. B)

I was born and raised right here and I couldn't survive in the cold north. The cold we had here was bad enough!

I used to hate living in Florida being from New York. I was always hot. But since surgery I couldn't imagine living any where cold. Orlando is definitely home now.

I live in California and I don't feel guilty. I have lived in Chicago Illinois and Lynchburg Virginia so I know what cold is. I have many friends and family who live in the mid-west and on the east coast. I love teasing them by posting our warm California weather on Facebook. They tell me I'm a brat for doing so and I agree! LOL

I live in Michigan! It's Freezing up here! Used to live in Palm Beach. I will be enjoying the sun soon in Sunny Arizona at the end of the month. I'm Moving and I will be recovering there. I can't Wait. I can feel the Osteoporisis kicking in from all this snow and below 0 weather! Bye Bye Freezer!

We got 12 inches of snow yesterday here in NH. After doing the snow removal I sat down with a cup of coffee and the laptop surfing the net looking for good deals on Kayaks. LOL

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
