Having a Bad Time

Recommended Posts

I am having a really bad time being unemployed. I sit around on the computer looking for jobs, and watch TV. I'm not moving, I'm not eating right and I'm losing my mind. I always wished my life away looking forward to retirement, now that I've been home for 2 months, I'm going crazy. I have a couple of prospects I'm going on a third interview this week at a great company. I'm hoping I get the job. But in the mean time, I haven't lost an ounce.

Sometimes I don't eat at all, other days I'm eating just for the sake of eating. I go from being completely lose to so tight I can hardly swallow Water. I was supposed to be going in about now for a fill, but I'm still PB'ing half the time. Maybe that's just from stress, but I sure do need help to get back on track. Wish me luck, maybe I'll be employed again soon and then I'll start caring about what I'm doing again.

Sounds to me like you are so use to getting up and going that sitting down and watching is a little hard to handle. Try getting up first thing, eating something easy (protein shake in a can), getting showered and dressed like you would for work on a dress down day. I find just getting up and doing that and even wearing makeup is a boost.

You can always volunteer at a place that feels close to your heart and could use the contribution of service. *nothing like the feeling of giving back to the world*

Amen lapdancer!

The best thing you can do is get up, get dressed, put some makeup on and get moving! Do things around the house that you have been meaning to do.. a project etc.. pretend that is your work or job.. turn off the TV!

I am a sufferer of depression and that is exactly what you are going thru. A milder form.. I understand how you feel. Doing the opposite of how you feel will make you feel better. That is how I got started. My depression got severe though and I needed some medical intervention but I think you will make it! I KNOW you will make it.

TV is the devil.. all those "shiny happy people" on there LOL .. and limit your computer use if possible.. go for a walk, call a friend, go to the local humane society and ask to see the animals and pet them! LOL I am serious! These things can cheer you up!

Take care hun and things will get better..you just have to DO it!

Try and stay busy. Get up, get showered and get dressed every day as soon as you can. Once you hit the computer I know it can be hours before the shower. YOu will increase your energy, no only with yourself but universally to find a job. Good luck to you. Get out and take a walk instead of eating.

I did the same thing when I was unemployed. You dream of having the time to do all sorts of things - but once you get it, you are too stressed about money and depressed about being terminated that you just can't seem to do it.

Hugs! If you can treat it like a vacation - something with an end coming soon, then maybe you can do something worthwhile - or at least have some fun.

Good Luck!

Thanks. I guess I just really have to shake this. I have lots of things I should be doing and I'm just leaving them sit. Once I am back to work I'll look back and wonder what the heck was wrong with me.

Eye-eye Jack, no rant please. It really helps just to know there is someplace I can go and let of some steam.

Recognizing that you could be in real depression is important. When I was in true depression, even my favorite activities seemed empty. I isolated and felt lonely. I could not understand why other people didnt seem to care about me, and like you, my eating habits and sleeping habits were crazy. If you cant shake this after a bit, I think you may need help with antidepressants, but you should see your Dr. and tell them how long you felt like this.

Getting a job is tough to do even when you are hitting on all points, and not getting a job is stressfull, and fuels rejection, and self rejection. Stress really takes a lot out of our chemical balances, so does not eating well. Try to get at least one hour of sunlight on you eyelids everyday, visit a pet store, garden supply house or someplace else that reveals life to you.

If you dont recognize yourself anymore, see your Dr. I found out the hard way that depression cannot be ignored. Please take care and I am proud of you for reaching out. Your gonna get pass this, its a season, and seasons cant help but change. You'll see.

Victoriana, thank you so much. I am trying to stay very positive but the lack of sleep is really adding to the depressed feeling. I think I may need to see my doctor before it really gets out of hand. But your idea about visiting a garden store or pet store really sounds great. The weather is finally starting to show a change and I think that thinking about planting and gardening and getting myself busy with the yard will be a big pick up for me.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
