Pregnant and worried that I can eat too much

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I got pregnant 3 months post op and haven't lost anymore weight. I have gained 8lbs which the doctor says is great. btw I am 34 weeks yesterday. so I am so concerned cause it seems that I can eat way more than I should be able, like about a cup or so at one sitting sometimes. the other thing is I want to graze all day as I feel hungry all the time. im not eating a cup of food every time I graze but its like I want to feel full all the time. I am worried I will stretch my stomach and after baby comes I will not continue my weight lose journey or that it is going to be so much harder. Does anyone know if the restrictment of the sleeve comes back after you deliver? Will I stop this feeling of always being hungry? Will I start to lose again as I still have about 70 lbs to goal weight? any advice would be so welcomed. thanks

8 lbs at 34 weeks you are doing great! Stop watching the scale if it is messing with you I don't have scales in my house and I turn my back at the doctor. Remember you are going to deliver 7-8lb baby, amniotic Fluid, a placenta, and all that extra blood has to come out. But remember baby only needs 300 calories a day which is equivalent to half of a PB&J sandwich :-) (part of my major was in nutrition )

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
