The pull of the moon

Recommended Posts

Some days I can't eat anything, and some days almost everything goes down. I feel like the tightness of the band depends on the stage of the moon (Just an anaology). Has anyone else had this this observation and can anyone explain it. Yesterday nothing, and I mean nothing but Water and Protein Shakes went down. Today chips, tortilla Soup and salad went down like a champ. Crazy lapband has a mind of its own....

Ginger, this is very common with the band. They are very fickle. You just have to follow your body for that day and see what you can get down. There is no other way of telling unfortunately. Good luck.

Yup! My band is fickle and does the same thing! :) :) :) I don't have times that I can't eat anything, just some times that I can eat anything and the next time a bite or two.

I noticed no difference day to day early on but now since my last fill (and I had a small fill yesterday too) the last 3 cycles, I've noticed increased tightness just before AF arrives.

Not sure if its a function of the fill or the fact that I am beginning to suffer some menstrual irregularities I've never had before and am getting PMT for the first time in my life so I may be bloating up a bit whereas I never did before. But I have to be quite careful the week before my period, with what I eat.

Yeah, fickle is definately the word to describe it.

Just go with the flow. And on those days when you can eat a lot...you need to use some willpower.

I've thought about the moon. Weather does it to me too. Mine varies so much it's crazy. It's the reason I haven't had a fill in ages, some of the days I have I'd be completely closed off if I got another fill, and that's just no good.

I was just telling my mom, who is also banded, that I think my band is heat activated. We had 84 degree weather today and nothing went down well. Yesterday, I way over ate, come on summer, LOL.

There is never a day when I can't get something down, but there are days when I can't eat more than a couple of bites and other days when I can eat my normal little meal just fine and even have room for more if I really wanted it. Those are the days I try and get as many veggies in as possible :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
