Think I may be too full after my fill yesterday:( Protein Shake won't stay down. Never had a problem with liquids before!! I'm at work though and we are about to get 10 inches of snow!

I know the band issue is the priority here...but OMG 10 inches of snow! Please tell me you are not in the NY area!!!

If you can try to get to the Dr. on your lunch break or leave a bit early from work. There are some that might say to wait it out but if you can't get liquids down I would not want to wait especially if you get snowed in later in the day...week....

Take care and be safe in the pending snow!!!

I would suggest "testing" your fill by making sure you are completely warm before you eat or drink and avoid cold foods or beverages. Cold weather is DISASTEROUS when I am hungry...I'm better off going without and starving because if I'm cold, my band seems to be completely closed shut! Once the air temperature around me is at least 70 and I've been in that environment for at least 30 minutes, I can eat or drink normally. I've experimented and this is a proven fact for me...it could be your issue as well.

Stay down? Do you mean a sip or two comes back up or can you consume 4-8 ozs before it comes up?

Can you drink Water?

I can sip and it will stay down. I guess I just drank it too fast in the car. I've never had any problems before with liquids though!

Hope you don't need to get that unfill. I'm pretty sure we are going to get all 10 inches they are predicting for here!

Sounds like you're swollen from the fill. This is why they ask us to go on liquids and creamy Soups for 24-72 hours. I'd recommend no solid stuff for a few days.

If you're swollen, some say hot/warm fluids and some say cold. I've always leaned more towards chewing on ice chips as the cold Water helps to reduce the inflammation. But, follow it up with warm liquids as they create more blood flow. Alternating is a good way to get that swelling down for many people.

If you're still swollen and tight by tomorrow, call your doctor, but give it a little time to settle in.

Oh no! A small unfill may be needed. Good luck.

Take it easy, Mel -- maybe a really quiet day of snow, a sleep-in, watch some movies -- baby yourself and your band and maybe it will all settle in? Sending best wishes your way!

Thanks guys! I ate some chicken and stars and threw up like I never have before. Like, not spit up like usual, full on vomiting. Will be straight liquids tomorrow and then I'll decide on Thursday.

Thanks for asking secret! It has been better but not completely. I successfully ate a few meals after doing liquids for 24 hours. Last night I spit up sushi, which I've never done before. It was always a "safe" food for me. I felt mostly due to the chopsticks! And then at work they ordered pizza for us. I have successfully eaten this in the past as well. I chewed my 20 times and waited a minute in between each bite. It's very frustrating:( getting ready to eat enchiladas. Hope it goes well! At this point, I don't think I'll be getting the fill I'm scheduled for in march!

Yes in the first 3-5 days after a fill ive had problems with cold liquids.

If im at work, i drink warm tea or coffee.

At home, i will lay a heating pad across my tummy/chest to get more things like Soups and mash potatoes grits or oatmeal down.

Also walking the food/liquid down or having someone pat u on the back or urself on the chest to shake the food down.

Imagine feeding a baby, after the feeding u burp the baby if u dont the baby burps it all back up if u dont get the food shaken down and allow it to just sit in the pouch & cause nausea.

(Just my philosophy)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
