nightmares about food

Recommended Posts

Hi guess what does anyone else have nightmares about eating the wrong foods sometimes I dream I ate an Italian hero from a deli and dreamed that I really enjoyed the Italian hero bread about the sandwich. Basically I have nightmares about eating fatty carbs and carbs that I can't or shouldn't eat. I swear nightmares like that are like a relapse or something it feels so real. when i wake up i realize i was only dreaming.

I had a dream the other night that I was sitting down and the skin from my thighs were touching the floor!!! I guess I'm worried about loose skin more than I thought! THat dream was completely irrational because I don't have that much weight to lose or the possibility of my skin to be that loose!!! Dreams are weird! Anyone want to analyze these for us??? lol

I used to have nightmares about eating cupcakes etc. For the rest of the dream I was just so upset with myself. The thing is now I don't even crave those things....

Been there. While low carbing I would dream of eating carby treats then freak out because I ruined the diet. It would be such a relief to wake up and find it wasn't real. Isn't it fun when the brain tries to process this stuff?

I used to dream about raw meat when I was pregnant, it was awful because it would make me sick, I would wake up gagging. Thankfully i never puked in bed! ( sorry tmi) I think this is the brain trying to find out why we don't eat that thing anymore, it gave us so much pleasure, maybe we just need a reminder? Darn pleasure centers! Oh I didn't crave raw meat while I was pregnant, I could barely stand it because I could smell it at 100 yds! (LOL) And I am a serious meat eater!

So far no weird dreams about the surgery, I am in for my last consult this week then the hit the ground running on my tests and hoped to be sleeved in March. I am sure I will have a few weird dreams before this is over!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
