Slippage cost?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So, I just got the news today that I have a slip and that I need surgery to fix it this month. I'm very scared.....I have blue cross ppo and I want to know how much it would cost for surgery to fix a slip. I would think that it would be less than the initial surgery. Does anyone know? Any information or insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Give your insurance company a call and see if they will cover the cost of surgery. If they do not then call the surgeon and ask them what their cost is and what terms you might be able to come up with to help offset the cost as you need to.

The cost can vary, especially if you are going to revise the surgery, or have the band replaced. Best place for that info is directly from the surgeon/hospital and/or bariatric group.

Good luck.

Please let us know when you find out if any thing , because I also have Blue cross anthem ppo, so it would be nice to know , I do think it depends on our ins, and what the hospital or Surgeon also costs, so please keep us posted , and how did you find out that you had a slipped band , let us banders know if you we're having pain or what troubles you were having , not that we want to scare any one you might help one of us just to see what we might be experiencing if it ever happens to one of us fellow banders , as I always call or text my surgeon if I think something might be wrong and am not sure , so I go to my doc first, because he is the one who would know and be able to give me answers,

Would not that be covered by your insurance? A band slippage is a complication that occurred because of the band I'm just saying that because 5 1/2 months out my port flipped. I had to get insurance approval and I got it. I was covered for the day surgery because it was considered a complication from the band. Good luck!

I have bc/bs ppo and they wouldnt cover a thing for my removal. I have to get a hardship loan from my 401K to cover the costs. Surgeon quoted me $2750.00 & hospital quoted $3500.00- surgery is may 14, hope i make it that long :(

Forgot to add- its a contract occlusion & they wont cover anything having to do with bariatrics, whether its fixing, taking out, or putting a band in.

@@Annette_33815 - isn't that such garbage? My insurance is the same way. Even if it were a dire emergency like I couldn't swallow Water. They won't cough up a single dime. Amazing.

I'm self-paying to just get mine removed. I've had it with the Lapband. I wish I had never gotten it.

Yep I agree, wouldn't recommend it to anyone. My surgery to remove my band is bumped up to April 9th....I can't wait.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
