Cat225 93 Posted February 4, 2014 Congrats to you! I was banded on 1/30. The first night was pretty brutal for me painwise, but it got better over the next day or so. You're lucky to be in the hospital. They sent me home that afternoon with painkillers that were as good as regular strength Tylenol!
pinkylaty 42 Posted February 4, 2014 Good Luck and please stay in the hospital overnite. That made a big difference to me.
lthueme 66 Posted February 4, 2014 Congratulations and welcome to the world of the banded! I had mine done on Dec 9 and I absolutely love it! I have learned to control much better what I eat. The first few days are rough as everyone has said. But take your tylenol every 4 hours for the first couple of days, walk when you can and sip, sip, sip. I was given a prescription of Hydrocondone and I pretty much only took that at night before bed and maybe once more during the day. The rest of the time I took tylenol. Having some GasX helps too with the excess gas but walking helps to loosen it up and get rid of it.
pinkylaty 42 Posted February 4, 2014 Hi lori , Thank you for your reply. What ind of tylenol are you taking ,my doctor gave m panadol Syrup and i dont think its very effective
lthueme 66 Posted February 4, 2014 My doctor had given me a prescription for Hydrocodone which I think is a combination of Vicodin and Tylenol. I alternated between that and liquid Tylenol for the first couple of days, then just Tylenol after that.
Bandista 7,466 Posted February 4, 2014 Yippee, congratulations! The walking helped me the most -- every time I had to get up to pee (which was often), I'd slip on my sandals and a robe and go up and down the corridor. I think it really helped kick off the instinctual healing. And I was just so happy to finally be banded that the actual pain didn't bother me much. The discomfort was purposeful or something like that. I had an Ibuprofen drip at the hospital then at home managed on liquid Tylenol. I had a prescription for narcotics filled but didn't need that -- it's something I avoid as I don't like the side effects (constipation, blues, that out of it feeling, etc.). Enjoyed Popsicles so much during this time! Sending you the very best -- all these newly banded people. You are in good company.

pinkylaty 42 Posted February 5, 2014 Its my 3rd day post op ,I am still sipping on Water and apple juice .Can we have popsicles or Soup now?
lthueme 66 Posted February 5, 2014 Your doctor or clinic should have given you a meal guide for the next few weeks. But generally you should stay on Clear Liquids for the first week post op. The would include popsicles and broth. Any Soup would need to be strained so you only have the broth. I could also have thinned greek yogurt, add milk to make it thin enough to pour. 1 pinkylaty reacted to this
