Anyone in AR ? What surgeon did you use?

Hi! I'm from Arkansas!! I haven't had surgery yet but am scheduled for February 26th. My surgeon is dr. Mark Gibbs. I will be at baptist. Have you had surgery? How's it going? Would be interested in hearing a fellow Arky's story!

Feb 26th?? That's just around the corner!! I don't have my date yet. I went to dr Fuller's seminar in sep and I needed to meet my requirements for my insurance. I think dr Gibbs is in the same clinic. How do you like him?? And what procedure are you having? Would love to chat more....

I had my surgery Dec 17th was self pay so it made sense for me to fly to Dallas for my surgery 12,200 all inclusive. Today I've lost 38 pounds since surgery had a text book recovery which I'm fortunate for!! I'm able to ear pretty much what ever I want now but only very very small amounts. I push myself to get 800 calories per day early on I was only getting 500-550 per day and my weight loss was slow, since I've upped my calories to 800 I've been averaging 3 pounds per week!! Best decision of my life just wish I would have done this 10 years ago!!

I do phone follow-ups and I admit I was a little concerned on what I would do if there were complications and my Dr was so far away but fortunately that didn't happen.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
