jtwildone05 4 Posted February 4, 2014 Hello all, I'm post op day 6, started purée foods. I can really only tolerate flavorless Protein Powder, the other make me nauseous. I've been having purée tuna, chicken, bean Soups, broths, Tomato Soup and adding Protein powder to those. Any suggestions for recipes or ideas for high protein foods you ate while eating purée foods??
Mom2-3 6 Posted February 4, 2014 I eat Dannon light and Fit Greek blended yogurt. It's only 80calories and has 12g of Protein per serving. That is a staple for me. I eat it every morning for Breakfast. Also doing refried Beans with fat free sour cream blended really well tasted good. I can only do a couple bites, but it has a decent amount of Protein per serving. I just got some frozen greek yogurt popsicles from costco today. They too are only 80 calories and have 6g of protein. I think they tasted pretty good. My biggest way of getting my protein in was from some Protein Shots that I found. To be honest, they don't taste that good at all by themself, but they are 180 calories and 42 grams of protein in a little 3.8 oz bottle. I mix about 1/2 of those with one glass of crystal light and sip on that in between meals and then I mix the other half later in the day. Hope this helps. Good luck 1 nancy264 reacted to this
jtwildone05 4 Posted February 4, 2014 What are these Protein Shots called?
Mom2-3 6 Posted February 4, 2014 They are called New whey liquid Protein. They come in grape and watermelon flavor, I believe. My husband found them at GNC, but I also found them at Walmart. I believe they are cheaper at Walmart. Plus they had it to where you could buy one individual bottle and try it before you buy a large box of them. I believe that Amazon sells them as well. Like I said, they aren't the best tasting alone, but mixing it with something else makes them taste much better! My husband, however, thinks they taste pretty good alone. To each their own, I guess. I was having a very hard time getting my Protein in before I found those because I would get nauseated toward the end of every Protein shake I made so getting so much protein in from such a small bottle was great to me! MandyRN 11 Posted February 5, 2014 I am being sleeved next tuesday:) this weekend I plan on pureeing some chili and sloppy joes I will then freeze them in 2oz containers. That way they are just like an ice cube and when I am ready to eat I can heat one up. I will add some unflavored Protein powder once I have heated them. I also bought some progresso beef pot roast that I can puree up after surgery...I can also puree some cottage cheese and maybe add a little pineapple..... Good luck! andreamy7 55 Posted February 5, 2014 One week1/2 I was having issues and did a Protein Shake called muscle milk light. They are small and 20 grams of Protein. $30 for a case at costco. I was mostly on broth, cream Soups. I had a hard time with refried Beans but I occasionally tried. I am 2 months out now and have a better time but still can only eat really smapl portions. Thank god for Peanut Butter and crackers.
Tate777 84 Posted February 5, 2014 Today was my first day on purees. I felt ok when I was eating, but by dinner time, i could only have a Protein hake-- my stomach was really rolling--- just could not bear the thought of actual food. Ugh.
