help please I'm feeling awful

Recommended Posts

Yesterday evening I broke down and started binge eating. I have no idea how I did it. But I kept eating past super full. I went to bed and woke up about 5 hours later with a sick tummy took two phenogrins and still vomited about 10 mins after that. I was still feeling ill so since I just puked out the medication I took another and went to bed hoping I could sleep it off.

I woke up this morning feeling so bloated, sick with nausea, head was foggy, followed with sulfer burps.. eww. Im still feeling awful my Dr. Just recommended for me to go on a liquid diet for today but the smell or tast of anything gags me. Has this happened to anyone else? I feel like such a dumb ass.

Am I correct to say you just had surgery???

In the early stages you're on your own, subject to the same pitfalls you had before the surgery....and let's face it...we all did what your describing....that's why we had surgery....

Hang in there, this is the toughest part of this journey...things will eventually get better and easier....took me 4-6 months...and even then there were many lessons still to be learned....

Reason for liquids, is precautionary....everything you went through could traumatize your band...need to give it a rest...same as you would if you sprained your ankle...

I go all liquids for various reasons every 6 weeks or so....

Please be gentle.....you've chosen yourself and your health and you will work through all this. These early days can be difficult. It's a great time to work on listening to your body and that's what you're doing. You tested it and it's telling you something. It was helpful for me to realize I am not forfeiting anything or giving up food. I had to change my mentality as I had been and on and off dieter for twenty years. Deprivation can really mess with our heads.

Tomorrow is a new day, with a new opportunity, and u are certainly not alone! If it were that easy, there wouldn't be a need for this support site! Be gentle with yourself, it's hard enough adjusting to this life change....no need to beat yourself up about a slip up. You recognized it & dealt with it! You will be just fine...wishing you a positive tomorrow!

Regardless if you vomited the two Phenergan please don't take more. pills start to digest as soon as the hit the stomach and just because you think you vomited them does not mean that you got rid of both of them. That is a good way to od yourself. Be careful medicating yourself.

I just want to thank you all for being so supportive. I was so freaked out/scared that was the most sick feeling I think I ever had been in. I didn't start feeling better until a bit earlier today. I practically slept all day yesterday since I was feeling so miserable. (No exaggeration) I feel pretty much back to normal but now with major restriction. I promise one thing, I will never ever eat like that again. ever!

Yeah im just a little over a month out. Thank you for being so sweet when I was feeling so awful I couldn't barley tolerate liquids the only thing I could stomach/ stand to smell was some grape Gatorade thankfully it was only 30 cals. I definitely had enough calories to last me the rest of the week. My band just gave me some tough love. I have my post op appointment next week from now where im supposedly getting an adjustment. Do u think that I should hold off on it for now or do u think it would be better to have my band lead the way? These grown up decisions are too difficult lol I think I need more education

Ask your doctor about the fill. He may want you to rest the band but don't miss your appointment. Good luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
