Quite like getting stuck. I've been stuck, like BAD stuck both Friday and today (Monday).

Friday was a pain so indescribable I hate to even think about it. I've been really good at small bites and chewing properly so I'm kind thrown for a loop on why this is happening.

I've never really had stuck episodes before so I am more then concerned that it has happened these two times.

If it happens again I will call the doctor.

Sympathies! I have been stuck three times on this journey. The most recent time I decided a Popsicle would be good afterward and I started the whole cycle all over again. Won't do that again! In each case it's been related both to speed of eating and consistency of the food. Rubbery fish in one case (cold at that, but I had let myself get too hungry and was reaching for "good" Protein out if the fridge -- didn't even heat it up!), rubbery mushrooms another time, slippery beets wolfed down my first episode. I hope ice learned my lesson. I'm three months out and five fills in -- hoping I might be in green zone range. Good luck to you!

This may be a personal question....but ummm...what does "stuck" mean in the context of lap band land?

Being stuck means food is not passing through. Usually due to not having chewed well enough or eaten too large of a bite.

B-52 I'm not sure how to take your comment. I'm hoping it is not meant to be snarky. I have tremendously modified my eating and eating behaviors overall. I posted my thread as I am now having stuck episodes that I had not previously had when I am eating the proper band way.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you find out what's causing your stuck episodes especially if your really chewing well.

It could also be the type of food you're eating! There are just some foods that go down easy and others I avoid like the plague. No matter how much I chew these foods, they always go down in an uncomfortable way.

Unfortunately, these are foods I eat on a regular basis.

Well what foods are they? Sometimes it's a matter of just switching it up to something a little bit more

'band friendly'.

For example I have issues eating chicken breast, so I switched to eating chicken thigh. It's usually not as dry, and although it has a few more calories due to the slightly higher fat content, it's really not that big a difference nutritionally.

I also have problems eating broccoli and asparagus because they don't break down all that well even after constant chewing. I've just stuck to eating leafy greens instead, like spinach, kale, chard, watercress, etc. They're much better for you anyway ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
