Great Experience With Dr. Huacuz TJ. Mexico

Recommended Posts

Hi I just wanted to share my experience with Dr huacuz and the Huacuz surgical center. I arrrived in TJ Mexico Wendsday 3-21-07 I was picked up at the airport by Milsa my (cordinator who took care of all the arrangements for me. She had recently had the band procedure about a year ago from Dr Huacuz.) I was not nervouse at all since I had somebody there with me that had already been through the same procedure, I was about to have. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the surgical center from the airport. Shortlly after getting there The Dr. Introduced himself and explained what he had planned for me then asked if I had any questions. I had already done alot of research before decieding to have the lap band so I did not.

The nurse then took me to my room and started me on a IV to make sure I was completly hydrated, she also put anti nausea medicine into the IV. I was then given my test EKG, blood pressure, blood work, talked to the pychologist. All test went well and the surgery was scheduled for 5:30 about 2 hourse to wait.

They came and got me right when they said they would, I was taken to the surgical room and told to get on the table. I will admit this was the first time I became scared and the thought of running screaming from ther oom:llama: did cross my mind. The next thing I know they are waking me up and telling me to get on to the bed. I was very confused and tried to get up and walk but they stopped me. I was then in post op for about an hour while they kept an eye on my breathing and heart rate. After I was returned to my room they gave pain medication. I was not in any considerable pain and two hours later I was up and walking about. They had adviced me sooner I was walking the less chance I would have complications, gas pains, blood clots.

The next day the nurse changed my bandages gave me Breakfast, smooth yougart and juice. We then went and had the band looked at under florscope. The Dr. showed me were the band and port was placed, I Then drank the barium and could see it flow through the newly formed upper stomche right through to the lower stomch. All and all I had a very good experience. I lost 13lbs on pre op diet and another 5 the the 4 days I was there. If there are any question about my experience I will gladly answer them.

I had my surgery the day before Seahawk freak and also had a great experience with Dr. Huacuz. On arrival we (my son and I) discovered we had forgotten our cell phone charger so Victor ran us by a phone place to purchase a new one. We arrived at the center to be grated by the Dr.,his wife and Norma. I was prepared for surgery after talking with some other patients who were leaving the next day. I really didn't even know anything had taken place. When I woke up I actually thought I had just fallen asleep. I was up a couple hours later walking the halls. The next morning I was given the most tasty Mango juice, the Dr. even sent a new jug home with me. Norma made sure my sons meals and mocha's were delivered each day, so he had no need to leave the center. I cannot say enough about the Dr and his staff, they are the best in my opinion. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
