Not to be gross but I am so constipated that I have to put on rubber gloves to help get stool out it is that hard and large. This results in bleeding. Taking stool softener but I don't think the gel caps are being digested and clearly they are not working. Any suggestions? Don't want to get impacted and need to have a doc get it out.

Clear liquid laxative by the other stuff in the pharmacy area at drugstore/Walmart. Stick close to home though. Then take Miralax daily to keep this from happening again

Same thing happened to me last week. I had to manually remove (yuck) what I could then I used a child's enima (double yuck). All better now and I'm on Mirolax to help prevent it from happening again.

Is it ok to take miralax everyday though? Where can I get that tea? Only two weeks out so worried this will get worse once I start eating food

Smooth Move tea can be found by the organics tea section. We have it at our local King Soopers. Take it at night & hopefully you can go the next morning.

I agree with others regarding Milk Of Magnesia too. I use the cherry flavor, not tasty but it'll do...

You can take Miralax daily. I learned this when I had a colonoscopy.

Hi:

A teaspoon of mineral oil daily helps too, and it's way cheaper than Miralax and Probiotics.

Hope this problem resolves soon.

I am now on regular food and it is slowly getting better, so now I take a capful of Miralax every other day...not fun to be constipated! Try to keep up with the Miralax & fluids, my surgeon warned me against anything with senna in it as you become defendant on it, Miralax was his suggestion. Good luck!

I'm about 2 months out and have had severe Constipation too for the past 3 weeks. I've tried Fiber one Cereal (the Low cal high Fiber one) along with plum smart light, but that's not helped at all.

The only thing that's helped me is milk of magnesia which I continue to take every other day.

This needs to stop soon ....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
