jlong007 6 Posted February 3, 2014 Hello all, I have my surgery tomorrow at 2pm. I am scheduled to be there at 12 noon. My emotions are all over the place. I never had surgery before, so I'm anxious, excited, scared, nervous. Etc... I've been overweight my entire life and have done yo-yo dieting. I started out my journey in July of 2013 weighing in at 325. Through diet and exercise I am now at 265 with the pre-liquid diet... Dont know if it's normal to go back and forth on this decision for the past 3-4 days, asking my self I only need to lose 65-70 pounds. My medical problems are sleep apnea, that is my major reason for having this surgery. Also I suffer from panic attacks & anxiety. Is it normal to second guess my decision in going into surgery? Thank you, Jorge
lala3613 39 Posted February 3, 2014 I second guessed my self. I started at 285 on surgery I was 245 and now I'm 187. Surgery was 8/2/2013. Best decision I ever made.
belunos 93 Posted February 3, 2014 It's very normal to second guess. In fact, you'll be second guessing up until you start the anesthesia countdown What's worse than that, though, is for at least the first week (if not longer) you'll be asking what you've done to yourself! And no amount of knowing that you'll ask it will keep you from asking it anyway! Statistically, though, it's worth it. You've done very well so far, but you have to ask how likely it is you'll keep that weight off on your own. That's not to sound mean, or that you can't do it, but the numbers are always against us. 1 1Day1Life4Now reacted to this

cejiogu 182 Posted February 3, 2014 I was second guessing myself until they put the mask over my face. Since May I have lost 127lbs and I am off all medication except my thyroid. Keep going you will love the change just takes time.
Torias mom 14 Posted February 3, 2014 I am nervous about my surgery but at the same time I look at it as others taking care of me, opposed to me being the care taker of the family. Let the doctors and the nurses do what the do and concentrate on becoming a new you.
Teachamy 1,042 Posted February 3, 2014 I agree with everyone above. It's odd, we've all been heavy, but in some way it's comforting to be what we've always been, until the surgery occurs, and then you can actually visualize the future and a brand new you doesn't seem so scary. It seems POSSIBLE! You can do this. Best of luck today.
