I had my surgery in 2005, and I am afraid to say I haven't had much success with my band. I did have to return to Dr. office 1 year after and have band re-done due to slippage.

As of today I am still close to the same weight as the day I started, the long road to getting banded.

I am re-visiting surgeon to see what I can do to start on the correct path. I am also hoping by joining this blog I will get hints and a support group.

What factors contributed to your journey? Being objective about this may help you to not go along the same path again. You've found a great resource in this site :)

When I decided to have WLS my weight had been increasing for years.

It is true that you haven't lost weight, but how much would you have gained since 2005 if you hadn' t had your band?

And now you can resume your journey..and be successful

Why did you get the band originally? Did you think the band would do the work for you? I would suggest you read everything about lap bands and gain positive thoughts before just trying hit or miss compliance again. If your bariatric centre (or surgeon) does not jog you to the enthusiastic road to use your "tool" please find a local meeting group and get help. There are meetings (similar to AA) that have popped up most everywhere. . . and if you can't find one. . . . . . . start one. . . . . . . you help someone & they help you & so on. . . . . pass it on. . . . to gain healthy & happy lives!

:P

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
