Needing Advice

Recommended Posts

I was banded June 06. Have had 4 fill now up to 1.8. My last fill was March 15 and really not had any problems. Well Friday nite hubby and I went out to dinner I took 2 sips of hubby's beer while waiting on my dinner after my dinner came I took one bite of fish and bammmm. I hurt I hurt really bad started foaming to the point we had to leave resturant I was so sick I threw up maybe 1/2 cup of that nasty foam. Well I couldn't eat and could sip very little Water after that. Now its Monday and still having the same problem. It is of course the wrong time of the month for me and that always makes me tighter than normal but I was wondering how long should I wait to see if this goes away on its own before I call my doc.

Thanks I am starting to get a little nervous thinking I might have done damage. I have always been able to sip Water until now but it hurts pretty good. I will wait hopefully it will work its way out on its own. I really don't want to contact my doc he is very stingy with the fills anyway and if I do he will want to unfil me and I still have somemore weight to lose.

You should be fine. You didn't do any damage. Sounds like you are just inflamed. I would move to liquids for a couple days then mushies. You should be fine after that. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
