I've been reading everyone's posts for days now and am finally diving in. You all have given so much support and inspiration to me already (obviously from afar) so I wanted to say thank you! :)

I was sleeved on 1/29. I was home on 1/30 getting back to my routines. Other than the pain on this left side incision, I feel fine and have decided to go back to work Monday, as a result. The only pain meds I've taken have been regular strength Tylenol and I only take that at bed time to help with laying down and that darn left side incision! ;)

I'm SICK of Protein Shakes and really don't know how I'm going to make it until 12/12 on this diet other than for the fact that I'm not even craving anything else!

Anyway, I look forward to sharing this journey with all if you. :)

Welcome to the forum slmwo! Congratulations on your surgery! It was also tough for me those first two weeks of liquids after the surgery, but it made the transition towards soft foods that much more exciting lol. Good luck!

Welcome! It's good to hear you are doing so well. My doc is strict about solid food and doesn't allow much but liquids until 5 wks and 3 days. I am almost to five weeks and am seriously sick of the shakes. Hang in there!

Welcome Slmwo, congratulations on your surgery. You're right, this is an awesome site. The members here are all so wonderful and very smart. I have learned more on this website than from anywhere. The actual experiences of others are more informative than any book you could read. Good luck in your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
