WASaBubbleButt 41 Posted April 2, 2007 Well, since I don't normally have headaches or Migraines, I assumed they're the same thing. My head was throbbing and my pillow felt like cement. Light was blinding.. and coffee ended it all.So take it for what you will Nooooooooo, headaches and migraines aren't the same thing at all. It's like comparing period cramps and childbirth. socalgal3 4 Posted April 2, 2007 Kicking the diet soda habit was the easiest part of this whole deal for me. Over 9 months without a soda and I don't miss it in the slightest. Water, iced tea and Crystal Light are my staples.
beachgirl 2 Posted April 2, 2007 My surgeon said it was fine and I drink one occasionally and before surgery I would drink 8 regular cokes a day but just don't care for them much anymore. I had to go the first 6 months after surgery without and just don't like them much now.

I haven't experienced childbirth either, and I don't wanna. Between a vasectomy, the pill, an IUD, and diaphram..... Okay, maybe not all that but I still don't trust a vasectomy, even after 20 years. HarleyNana 10 Posted April 3, 2007 I get an urge for a Diet Coke once in a while, but I don't want to jeopardize my band for a few sips. Though it appears from others, some doctors don't have a problem with it, mine does, so I try to abide by his instructions.
singandsew 0 Posted April 8, 2007 LauraJ23! Mt. Dew has a HUGE amount of caffeine. My husband used to drink it like water.....and couldn't sleep at nite. THEN, we found out the culprit WAS the DEW! ARgh! I won't let him drink it anymore.... As for soda, I was a DIE HARD Diet Coke Girl! Gimme gimme. I've been good and went off it for the surgery. But I had read a couple people on the board saying it was ok, and I was considering it for when I'm off the Clear Liquids and mushies.....but now that I've heard the consensus is nasty......I'm not going to even think about it....... Merrillee Something fun to do is to figure out what you are saving in your grocery bill since you cut out soda. I will save about $1800.00 annually for merely giving up diet soda. I'd go to Jack in the box or Mickey D's and get a diet soda before work, then another at lunch, and sometimes another with dinner. That is $150.00 per month. That is also a payment to a finance company monthly for a surgery loan. That is a lot of money to save over time.

I hear you regarding cigarettes! Tomorrow we are going to Mexico and I'm going to get that new drug (the drug I can't recall the name of) to stop smoking. I meant to get it last week when I was there and forgot. I'll let you know how it works.

amom 0 Posted April 9, 2007 I haven't had a real soda in weeks. I decide since some people have problems with it I would cut down so what I did is I added a little bit of Water to my glass of soda ( I have to have Ice in a glass) I increased the water day by day until it was almost all water and maybe only 1/8 cup of soda. This way I had no headache problem and now I don't have any desire for a soda. You might try it. good luck.
louise162 0 Posted April 9, 2007 I haven't been able to drink soda since my second fill. When I burp afterwards the soda just comes up as well. I was a diet coke addict before but I seem to have been able to give it up without too much trouble!
Daisalana 33 Posted April 9, 2007 bubblebutt- Chantix? My mom took that a month or so ago right before her hysterectomy. Can't smoke in the hospital and last time she had an operation it really bothered her.. so she took Chantix before the surgery. My uncle also tried it. Apparently, they both said, they couldn't finish a cigarette after 2 weeks on it. Since then, they've both ditched Chantrix and back to smoking. They were my guinea pigs, if it worked on them I was going to cough up the money for it. singandsew- I am same way.. except caffein doesn't affect my ability to stay awake! I was/am addicted to Mt. Dew. I haven't had one since.. 13 days ago! I was doing great with it, until yesterday. Had a BBQ at my parent's for Easter, and everyone drinks Mt. Dew. I was really really wanting one. Instead, I had bottled Water and some Gatorade.
laralynn86 0 Posted April 10, 2007 I was banded over 5 weeks ago, and I'd say a day doesn't go by that I don't still crave soda. I gave up soda for 9 months in 2004, and don't recall it being this hard. Just before surgery I was drinking at least 3 44-ounce Dr. Peppers a day. It makes my mouth Water to see someone with a soda now. But, I refuse to cave. For me it's that I know I can't stop at one. And the longer I can refuse to have one, the easier it will be and eventually (one hopes) the cravings will go away as well. I think just dropping all the sugar I was taking in from the soda has a lot to do with the amount of weight I've lost thus far. I look at how I was eating, and though I ate more than I should, I guarantee a huge portion of my calories came from drinking (soda, beer, wine, etc). So now, I drink Crystal Light (and some wine) but no more carbonation for me.
