Help! Band is now 1 inch above incision?

Recommended Posts

Hello, got my lapband 9-2008, only 1 slip in 2011, doctor suggested an unfill totally for 4 months.. At that time I felt must better. But, I gained almost 20 pounds back... In 2012 he started to refill me very slowly... Over time I lose the weight and a little more.. I feel great now. But, I noticed this week when I was looking at my stomach, and felt the port area(incision) I could not feel the port!!!! It's like it has moved up about a inch or so...I know with age(55) gravity takes place..lol... No problems with night cough or anything, I still have restriction... Has anyone with the lapband long term had this issue????

I noticed that my port moved up from its original spot, about 7 months after surgery. My doctor said it's absolutely fine, which I was relieved to hear. My port feels like it's an inch higher, because of the fat loss.

I feel like my port is in the same spot but that my skin has moved. Not so much fat under there now.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
