need a little support today

So...I've mentioned my stall before and how the scale hasn't moved since the 7th...I don't know what to do...add calories? Cut calories...? Stop working out? Something else to shock my system?... I'm really afraid I'm goinma end up being the one who the surgery doesn't work for...pretty down about it...but..at the same time..it doesn't seem possible that I would loose...lotsof protien..excercise...vitamins...fluids ..I follow the plan...I feel I have a good amount of restriction....Bahaa..I'm baffled...

Just keep doing what you are doing. You have lost 45 pounds in a very short period of time, give your body time to catch up. I know we all want it to come off quick quick quick, but that isn't how it works. It took you years to get up to 302, it will take months, maybe over a year, to get off all of your excess weight. Stop driving yourself crazy, just breathe and keep up the good work. You are doing great!!!!

HMMM been over 3 weeks. Thats a long stall.. Did you talk to your dietician. If it doesnt move soon i would make a phone call and track what you are doing for food intake and Water and excercise. I didnt have my first stall for 3 months and then again at 6 months.. Now im trying to actually stop losing. Im only a ew lbs form goal but a lot of people saying im getting to skinny. Thats ODD!!! When have i ever heard that one. Im there for you for advice.

Everyone stalls no matter what, but it will all work out in the end. Keep believing in your success. It will happen. I had a huge 3 week stall starting at week 5. You may see a stall that will last 1-2 months as you get past month 6. No need to worry. That too shall pass. Keep up the good work!

I agree w fiddleman.. I heard there is a huge stall after 6 month. I am at 7 never had a large stall but i am essentially at goal weight.

I also want to add that weight loss as a post op very much follows a stair case pattern. From month to month, most, myself included, lose weight for a couple weeks and stall for a couple weeks. It is a pattern that you will come to recognize as you get further out. The reason for this is that during a "stall, " stored fat is converted into glycogen to support the Protein synthesis of muscles. Each pound of glycogen requires some 2 pounds of supporting Water (don't quote me on the exact numbers; the general principle applies). Once the glycogen is used up, your body releases the water and you will see sudden drops on the scale. And the cycle continues. Eating low carb during weight loss is best so stored fat can be used during conversion to glycogen instead of carbs from food. Your body will use either. Exercise really helps during weight loss, especially lifting, because the glycogen stores are used up faster and the time between these cycles is shortened. For the first 6 months, I tended to eat very low carb (20g a day) and performed moderate exercise. Nothing too strenuous. It was mostly walking, hiking and elliptical. My weight loss followed the stair case pattern.

Fiddleman is right. My 3 month graphed weigh loss chart looks exactly like a stair case.

Keep working your program. It will come. Your body just needs time to rest and shift things around.

So..the day after I posted this I purposely ate kinda different ..I wouldn't say crappy but not the usual eggs and yogurt..went to apple bees and orderd the salmon on the weight watchers menu...I also indulged in some spinich artichoke dip which I'm sure was loaded with fat..by some miracle when I weighed on Sunday morning I was down 4 pounds..I think I got my mojo back!

my advice to you is stop concentrating so much on the numbers and just concentrate on making the right decisions and following the plan. eat right, find time to exercise and in time the numbers will be there for you. this is not a short race, its a long marathon. trust that the plan will work and later on down the road youll look back and ask yourself "what was I worried about?" good luck.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
