Hi!

I'm wondering if I can wear makeup to surgery if they are not going to be working on that area of my body and if I can leave on my pedi?

Each hospital has different requirements. Check with what your surgeons standards are. Mine asked for all nail polish to be removed, nothing about makeup. If it makes you feel better and they allow it, by all means. But do keep in mind, you may not feel the best when you wake up from surgery. I had the hardest time with nausea and my eyes watered quite a bit. And in my healing stages the first few days after surgery, I had my sister paint my toes because there was no way I could bend that far without pain. Expect your port area to be uncomfortable for up to a month.

I wish you the best of luck with your upcoming procedure!

I had my surgery this past Thursday, and I wasn't allowed any makeup, creams or nail polish.

I work in a surgical area. No makeup because sometimes they have monitors they put on your forehead and makeup can keep them from sticking. No fingernail polish because they'll put an O2 sat monitor on your finger and polish can sometimes cause it to not work as well. Toenail polish shouldn't be a problem.

I agree with Leepers. I'm a surgical nurse so in addition to the leads not sticking they prefer you not wear makeup so the CRNA or anesthesiologist can monitor your color. Also if you wear contact bring your glasses and no metal - piercings included.
