How soon did everyone start to have shrimp? I'm 6 weeks out and I have been having flaky fish and tuna with over steamed or over baked veggies. It settles fine with me. I was wondering what about shrimp though if it might be too heavy……I have a recipe that includes shrimp but I don't want to damage my sleeve or feel sick.

I'm 1mth out and I had it last week twice and I hate shrimp but my hubby found some at wm and since I was tired of just tuna n fish, I tried it. It was delish, my taste buds have definitely changed. I'm from Alabama and tried eating some grits, my favorite, but gross tasting and that saddens me but I am ok and the shrimp sat very well. Gl.

I had pureed shrimp (pureed with cocktail sauce or remoulade) when I was on purees and moved on to regular shrimp on soft foods stage. No problems.

Thank you all. I'm on soft solids for two more weeks and I'm still scared to try different things. This recipe is baked shrimp and tilapia in a sauce the calories are great and I've always been a shrimp lover. I'm going to give it a try!!!

I'm on soft foods too - both tilapia and shrimp are good in my sleeve.

Shrimp has been one of the best things for my sleeve...absolutely no problems...and the best part is how few calories it is for so much Protein. I keep it in the house pretty much all the time now!

Shrimp was the first thing I ate when I could have 'real' foods. It is still the easiest thing for me to eat.

Me tooo....i ate it a 4 weeks, and Felipe the Sleeve loves it!!!!! Goes down and out EASY!!!!

shrimp or crab legs are some of my favorite foods. they are super high in Protein and very low in calories. my sleeve handles either one with no problem, but I am 10.5 months out of surgery. in the first month or two I tried them and they didn't go down my sleeve so well, but now, I eat them often.

Oh I loved crab legs pre op. I'm going to give them a try now that I'm at 6 weeks since I did fine with shrimp hopefully with crab legs as well.

Shrimp is also one of my go-to foods. It's easy to make just for me (if my family is having something I won't eat), it's very few calories and lots of Protein. I didn't eat it until probably 3 months out. It seemed kind of "tough" in consistency. But I would say like everything else, just chew, chew, chew.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
