Once a month I go buy this bag of dog food for my fur babies. It's heavy for me to handle and I always struggle with it a little bit. It is a 30 pound bag of dog food. That is how much weight I've lost so far.

I can't believe I was carrying that around on my body. And to think I need to lose about 3 more of those. Wow.

LapBand. Best. Decision. Ever.

That puts it into perspective doesn't it?

It does put it into perspective, and when anyone says "I've only lost 20 pounds", I say.....go pick up a 20 bag of dog food. Hard to believe that we carry so much extra on our bodies. No WONDER all the health issues! It's been a long haul, but I'm glad to say that I've got about another 10 pound bag to go :P

Wow - that is definitely a good reminder. I've lost 26 lbs and just bought dog food today as well. Congrats on the weight loss so far and I know you'll lose many more :).

Great comparison....you are right....sometimes we dont realize how much our bodies carry because we have become so accustomed to it...i often think of carrying 15 5 pound bags of potatoes home at once...its crazy!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
