I got my period and since I have to work I had to take 2 aleves. I am in pain. Yesterday was my 1 month anniversary for my surgery. The NP said as long as you don't take it daily you will be fine. So I hope I will be because I had no choice but to take it. The sad part is that it's not really helping

Poor girl, I remember those horrible days. I could not have functioned without pain meds.Advil was my lifesaver. I took a ton in my lifetime. God knows what all those meds did to my liver. I sure hope you find relief.

Tell me about it. I can't live without aleve and I only take it during this time of the month. I don't take it for anything else. I know this will probably damage something inside my sleeve but I will have to deal with it because there was no way I could of came to work without taking something. I hate liquid Tylenol and it doesn't even help.

I haven't seen you post lately :) hope all is well

I'm allowed to take NSAID's occasionally but I went ahead and asked my dr. for a prescription for Tramadol for cramps, just a couple days' per month worth. Might be worth checking in to, especially if Alleve isn't helping all that much anyway.

I take Tramadol for my psoriatic arthritis, but since being off of my anti-inflammatory meds due to my new "tummy", I had taken an occassional Aleve. My rheumatologist told me to take them for my bursitis in my shoulder last month to help with the pain. I don't take it often, but when I do, I take it on a fuller stomach, usually right after I've eaten or with my meal. I know....no drinking with a meal, but sometimes, I have to be a rebel and do it for the pills..... better that, than to continue to suffer!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
