You can watch the surgery on Facebook as well.. I watched it several times before I had the surgery...Tried to watch some plastics to but ended up chucking after 4 min. Don't think that was a good idea.

I watched it on Tuesday and found myself not being able to sit still. All I could see was myself being 600 lbs and the struggles I have gone through to fix this..Then to see that lady not doing what she needed to do..I found myself yelling at the screen..

Don't know if I will tune in next week..Maybe I am not ready to see it yet...Maybe my own experiences are still to fresh!

I like watching the show. I particularly liked the one about Penny-- she made lots of excuses and did not follow instructions well at all. I liked that show because I could see myself in her--- there have been dozens of times I have made similar claims ("I am doing all I can...") and I was lying to myself. Penny was an excellent reminder for me that I can sabotage myself if I am not willing to be committed and to stay honest. Good stuff.

I, too, have been watching this show. I find it to be very encouraging and helpful. I saw a lot of myself in Penny. I am an emotional eater. I have been working hard to get it under control and in the past I would find excuses to eat and then complain about why i couldn't lose the weight. I always told myself that I was doing the best I could, but in actuality I was not doing what I needed to do. I am so happy that I have decided to take this journey. I am learning a lot about myself and why I eat the way I do. I have also learned how to eat foods that are healthy and how to exercise properly. This show helps me to see that I have made the right decision to take back my life.

I don't ever want to get back like that which is hard sometimes to sometimes.. I still want to eat even though I had the surgery... it doesn't fix everything just like some people are emotionally eaters something to get bored in like to eat. if I was really trying to get my weight of like I'm supposed to and keep on track I would have lost a lot more by now I have lost a hundred five pound I still have a lot to go.. but no one understands what you go through with the surgery unless they had it done

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
