Need suggestions on Fills

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I had my lap band surgery 3 years ago. My surgeon was Dr. Bruce in Dayton, Ohio.

I've only had 2 fills and loosing very slow. I now live in Florida and I'm going to a new doctor Monday to get my 3rd. fill. When I read how quickly some people loose I'm thinking I should have had more fills. Please give me some input. Thanks so much. Hildebrant

I live in Ft Lauderdale, I had more fills than you did. Don't beat yourself up or compare yourself to others. Why not talk to your new doc about how you feel.?

I had my band filled a little ( 1.5 cc ) in the operating room when I had surgery. That was on May 10th 2011. I had my second fill (the surgeon added another 1.5 cc ) after a year, in June 2012. During that year I lost 52 kg . I was never hungry and, above all, I had lost interest in unhealthy food.< /p>

My band and my mind worked well together, which is much more difficult now. My band keeps doing its task, but my mind has started craving for "forbidden " food, that sort of food which can easily pass through the band.

I should have my brain banded..It is so difficult sometimes not to use food for reasons that have nothing to do with nutricion.

As I read somewhere

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the solution

i was banded in may 2013. i got my first fill in the middle of july. in july i had 3 cc put in and than a1 cc a month after . i have 8 cc now. still working on adjustments. but i think i'm pretty much there. everyone is different. some ppl don't need any fills just the band to lose wt. it is a very personal thing. and talking with your new doctor is the best thing you can do.

I had the same thing! 3cc my 1st fill 0.8 my 2nd and 0.7 2days ago. I was feeling the same as u. My band is very sensitive and I'm loosing slow. But loosing nevertheless. So just listen to your body. U don't want too much in it and have problems. Slow and steady wins the race????

Had 2 cc at surgery 2 19 13 and a fill every 6 weeks starting 2cc and then 1 cc and .5 and .5 until I get to 6cc and then I hit the green zone and have not had a fill since. I think small fills more frequently are best or at least were for me.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
