You are so ambitious :) Good for you! I started walking 30 minutes a day a week or so after surgery. After a month I upped it to 60 minutes a day. At 4 1/2 months I started strength training with weights and a trainer. I don't know if this is typical or not, it's just what I ended up doing.

I started walking on the treadmill at the gym the day after I got home. Just doing 30 minutes each time. I gradually increased the speed, incline, and speed. At my week six check I was ready to start doing some running and couldn't wait to get the clearance to do so. I was told to move for 30 minutes a day and I believe it made me recover quicker also by not just sitting around.

I started walking two days post op, albeit short distances. After about 2 weeks, I was walking and biking for 30-40 minutes a day. Added swimming as soon as the wounds healed (think it was at 8 weeks or so, can't remember).

Wasn't cleared for weights until about 16 weeks and then it was moderate, nothing too strenuous. At 20 weeks, I started hitting the weights aggressively and haven't looked back!

That sounds like a pretty good routine, thank you!

All very helpful, now I got an idea more or less what to do thanks!!!

I didn't start until last week (4.5 months post op). But I have to tell you that is my only regret! I feel so amazing when I get to the gym regularly. It has made a huge difference in my morale if nothing else, but it has also kickstarted my weight loss out of a stall.

You're so soon after surgery though. Be sure to take it easy and listen to your body.

4 months is early on too, but hey the important thing is that you're doing it! I think at the beginning the weight comes off on its own easily, once you reach your plateau then it's important to add a lite extra. I will def take it easy :)

Glad to see this info, my wife and I both had the sleeve done on Jan 5. Unfortunately she has had issues wish all her incisions reopening, but she is doing well now. She has plateaued at 25 lbs. for the last 3 weeks. I am thinking that I has a lot to do with he having to postpone exercise until she heals, which will likely be 3-4 weeks.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
