Frequency of Plateaus/Weight Stalls

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have a quick question. I know that plateaus are a normal part of the weight loss process, but is it possible to plateau too often? For example, being about 3 1/2 months out, is it normal to have stalled three times already? Thanks for any responses!

Yes! Check out my weight chart. I stall several times and even gain a pound or two a couple of times. Totally normal!

Okay, good to know, I was wondering if maybe it was happening too often to me, but I guess even though it feels like it's happening every few weeks, it's normal >:( lol

As McButterpants says, You can only control what goes in your mouth - your body does the rest at its own pace. Keep working your sleeve, and following the plan, and it will happen. You got this!

Every body is different. Lots of people stall frequently. It's feast or famine so to speak. I am now weighing once every three weeks with my trainer. Too frustrating to weigh even weekly right now.

I have no idea of what's normal, but I can tell you after the second week, I've been stalled more than I've been losing. It's fairly slow for me. I am slowly coming to terms with that.

Yup, I'm almost pushing 4 months and I can't tell you how many tantrums I've throw over stalling. I've already had 3 and it's like enough already, let's get this freaking show on the road. Seriously if it's going to be like this for the rest of the year I'm going to be pissed. I've only lost 20 pounds post surgery, it's like when is the weight loss going to kick in, I want this weight off me ASAP!!!!!

Keep in mind, it is not generally considered a stall unless there is no loss for at least 3 weeks.

Thanks for the postings; they helped me because I am 11 weeks out and lost 20 lbs. down from 22/24 to a 16/18 and thought I was not doing something right. it seems that some loose faster than others. do you'll think age has anything to do with it?

Well, technically age does have a role in weight loss. The older we get, the slower our metabolism gets, so the weight loss might be slower, but of course there are tons of people who, at an older age, have been very successful with their weight loss efforts. It's about dedication, working hard to reach those goals, and staying on track with what we know we're supposed to do to move those stubborn pounds.

ive been lucky and haven't hit any plateaus from surgery date until 8 months later. after losing about 110 lbs in 8 months I have now been inbetween 181-185 lbs for a little over 2 months straight. I don't think this is a plateau, I think its where my body weight is going to stay. I say this because I still eat right and exercise 4x a week, but my weight stays inbetween 181-185 no matter what I do. but im not complaining as im satisfied where Im at, but I think this is my final permanent weight.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
