Need a good iron supplement

Recommended Posts

I cannot stomach Multivitamins with Iron in them. However my doc wants me to try a separate iron supplement. Is anyone taking one that is not completely disgusting?

I was prescribed to take ferrous sulfate, some high doses 2x per day because I was not taking my supplements like I should have. Okay, bad me... that said no matter what it is be sure to take it.

I tried all of them, the chewable, liquid - but I never liked any of them. Come to find out simply taking them is more important, at least it was in my case. But of all the evils I liked the chewable the best that CGDR suggested above.

I take Palafer. Every night I take a capsule with orange juice....It helps it work better if you drink orange juice with it....

Had my check up on Monday and all Vitamins and minerals on target.....After the loss of everything when I was in the hospital..This was very good news for me!!!!!!!!!!!!

I take the Iron +C chewable from CelebrateVitamins.com, the grape flavor, and I actually like it. Out of the whole fistfull of Vitamins and other supplements I take each day, it is one of the 2 that I actually look forward to because of the taste. (The other is the Calcium soft chews from the same company, 250 mg each, the carmel flavor.)

I take fusion. I believe it is only with prescription but it does not have a taste (it's a capsule) and my doctor prescribed it to me. It's been sitting very well with me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
