Thank you very much!! I didn't get my BSN until 2010. I have been a nurse since 1997. I was planning on going for CRNA but I had a baby at 40... found out I was pregnant one month after graduating with my BSN. Needless to say... CRNA is a no can do with a toddler. I am interviewing at SUNY Stony Brook (phone interview) because it is a distance learning program. I am in Buffalo, NY and the school is in Long Island. I am going to do part-time so if I am lucky enough to get in I will complete the program in 3 years. I currently manage an outpatient mental health clinic but I have only been doing psych for 2 years. My background is ER/ICU. Keep working toward your education, never stop...you will get there. We picked the best profession!!!!

Yeah, I am still very fresh in the game. I was an EMT and for hot second thought of becoming a doctor, but then after many long debates with myself and a passion for midwifery I decided it was the best route. Very cool that you worked in the ER, that’s what I would like to do once I get my license.

EMT's transition very nicely into ER setting. Good luck. Keep me in the loop. What state are you in?

I am from NJ origianlly, and will be moving this summer to either Denver or Portland depending on where my fiance gets into law school. It's actually not super warm today, lol. It's 41 and rainy, which is pretty chilly in Florida. I def will keep you in the loop and my surgery is the friday after yours, so we can be weightloss buddies! You should add me as a friend, I tried to add you but for some reason bariatric pal doesnt want me to have friends haha!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
