Harder To Lose Post-Op: Anyone Else?

Recommended Posts

My weight loss has slowed down considerably since surgery. I am a little over two months out, and the weight is just barely creeping off. I actually lost weight faster and more consistently on my pre-op diet than I do now.

There are days when I feel like this wasn't worth it. Does anyone else feel like this?

(I know there are those who will ask, so yes I am eating within my NUT's guidelines, eating only 11% carbs from low-glycemic veg, getting in about 80g of Protein per day from solid foods, and about 20g of fat. I exercise hard 7 days per week.)

It has got to be frustrating to be doing what you are instructed and it doesn't seem to be going as smooth. You may actually be taking in too few calories. If you're working out every day, you just might need more. Have you talked to your NUT recently? At 6 weeks out I was taking in about 800 calories a day and was satisfied, but losing very slowly. My Nut upped it to 1000 and it was steady until about 9 or 10 months out and slowed a bit. But I knew to expect the last bit to be the hardest to lose. Good luck..

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
