Do you have a favorite food as a "sleever?"

Recommended Posts

Depending on what stage you're at, do you have a favorite food?

I'm on full liquids, but one of my favorites has to be: 3 tablespoons of mashed potatoes, 1 tablespoons of melted shredded cheese, and 1 tablespoons of Tomato sauce. Soooooo tasty!!!

11 months post op and I love salmon. I loved i prior to surgery and love it just as much now. I could eat it 7 days a week. Oh, and crab. YUMMY!

Clear liquids: Sleepy Time Tea

Full liquids: Greek Yogurt thinned with Water and sweetened with Splenda

Early restaurant meal: Crab cocktail

First veggie favorite: frozen mixed veggies

Nowadays I don't really have a favorite. I rotate among a pretty wide array of Proteins, veggies, fruits, and whole grains.

I don't know what stage exactly I'm on yet but my favorite food right now is salmon sashimi. I LOVE IT! I did not like sashimi before surgery but now, dipped in some soy sauce, I'm in heaven. :)

Second favorite, though not asked, is chicken Soup (made with mixed vegetables, lots of great seasonings, and a little gravy).

I have always liked seafood, but since I've been on a regular diet, I cannot get enough king or snow crab legs. Such a yummy treat and high in Protein, too.

Last night we had baked salmon, mixed veggies (bok choi, zucchini, squash and chinese cabbage) and some whole grain brown rice. Yes, I'd have to say this is my favorite.

My tastes truly have changed a lot. I do crave bad things but I end up feeling sick when I eat them. Yes, I eat bad stuff... I'm not perfect. ;-) But, I really do love and crave good healthy and nutritious food now more than ever.

Pre-op I hated cottage cheese and now I can't get enough. Darigold pineapple cottage cheese mixed with black cherry Greek yogurt... I could live off it!

Question? How do you cook bok choy? I have always wanted to try it but I'm clueless as to how to cook it

Sometimes I will boil it, just like spinach. If you get the large size cut them up a bit smaller. The end part looks like celery, I cut that up the same. When I do mixed veggies I'll do it as a stir fry using EVOO. Don't need a lot because it creates it's own juices too. :)

Clear: sugar free Gatoraid

Full: 6 Star whey Isloate chocolate Protein mixed with Water and heavy cream

Mushy: Black refried Beans, pineapple salsa, chipotle aioli, and goat cheese mixture.

Now: Basil Fried Rice-but instead of rice I make cauliflower rice(I cut carbs/sugars). It is amazing and filling. Below is the you tube video telling you how to make it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
