So we all harbor these fantasies about being happier, more confident, more social, sexier, stylish, successful, date more etc if we lost the weight. Well what happened after you lost the weight? Did things change for the better or worse?

Haven't been sleeve yet...but all the things you stated, run through my mind on a daily basis. .I lack all those things now due to my weight. I hope to feel better about myself after surgery.

For the better! All those things changed and more. I dont' ache like I used to.. Got my 1 year labs back and for the first time in about 20 years, I wasn't anemic. I do have more confidence. I'm not trying to hide under baggy clothing anymore. I dont' think I've changed exactly, just being a much better, healthier version of me. Good luck!!

1000 % for the better. I feel better in body, mind, and soul because I am getting healthy. Most importantly because I have hope now.

It is not all sunshine & unicorns, and it is not a magic bullet. But it has allowed me to get results from the work & commitment I put into it. I would do it again in a heart beat -- it was exactly what I needed.

I slipped in the snow the other night and had to have my daughter open the car door so could get up. I needed the leverage. I'm hoping that if it happens next year i'll be able to get up on my own. :)

F O R T H E B E T T E R!!!!!

Let me count the ways...

This has been the most successful I have been at any attempt to lose weight.

My blood pressure is lower.

I"m off Metformin for metabolic syndrome.

I sleep better at night.

I can exercise for 75 minutes straight.

I'm a happier person - I smile a lot.

I have more confidence.

I like myself more - I am kinder to myself.

I don't need to take a nap every day.

I'm not as cranky.

I am more social.

I feel more attractive to my husband.

I care what I look like - I wear makeup again.

Is it all sunshine and lollipops? NO! Not even close.

I can't eat the same foods that I used to. Some days I'd like a big cheeseburger and fries.

Some days I don't want to be a weight loss surgery patient - it is time consuming and occupies a lot of space in my brain.

Sometimes I don't have 20 minutes to eat an egg.

Some days I struggle to get in my 80 grams of Protein.

Would I do this all over again - absolutely. This was the best thing I could do for me and my family.

I think everything on your list came true with the exception of dating more. Happily married for almost 14 years. We are both enjoying the sleeved life together. How many couples can you say get to do that? :)

Fiddleman, Me and my adorable hubby were sleeved together after looking at 10 years of wls seminars for the sake of his health and morbid obesity. Thank God for the sleeve, and due to asthma, HBP, diabetes, I qualified for the surgery also, and decided it was do or die or I would lose my husband. Not joking. I decided I could be the leader. He was nervous. We could not be happier! God is good. We have been married 21 years and I want to squeeze in another 50 years with the most precious man on earth. Wishing you years of good health and happiness!

startingoveryetagain,

I'm not that far out but my life is definitely better. I can move without pain!!!!!!!!!!!!! That in itself is remarkable and makes me happier.

My relationship with food has totally changed. It is now only fuel. I have to concentrate on Protein first, chewing thoroughly, spacing liquids and food, taking Calcium then waiting 2 hours to take iorn, waiting two hours to take Calcium and taking Multivitamins twice a day.

I have NO desire for sweets. My Protein shakes are all sweet. My calcium and iorn tablets are all sweet. I haven't got my appetite back yet and I can walk past the bakery in the grocery store and not even flinch.

IF you had told me I'd have no desire for sugar and fat filled baked goods---I'd NEVER have believed you. I guess my tastes have changed for the better. I now crave savory foods--not sweet.

I'm wearing sizes much smaller and they fit AND LOOK GOOD ON ME. My husband is thrilled because his wife just keeps looking hotter and hotter--never thought I'd be able to say that.

I am more confident and outgoing and total strangers seem to pick up on that.

I'd have the surgery again in a heartbeat.

Kathleen

I can't believe how quickly things have changed for me. I'm only 4 1/2 mos. out, and with my weight still being at 225 (sw 297) it floors me. My son and I have a better relationship. We play and cuddle a lot more. Same definitely goes with the husband (waay better romantic life as well!!) Im gaining more confidence already. I have already gotten rid of just about every piece of clothing I owned (Im too small!!) My life has changed for the better. My day to day aches and pains are becoming less and less by the day (it seems).

Ok, Im not thrilled about the hair loss, or the struggle to keep myself hydrated. But I signed on knowing these things, and would still have the surgery again today.

Sleeved October 2013. No regrets. Down 50 lbs. 50 more to go. I breathe easier, sleep better, feel better overall. Simple things like taking the stairs at work are accomplishments. Before the weight loss I would have to stop half way to coach my breath and lean against the wall. Very impt. To follow Nut and surgeon's instructions. Have to admit exercising more would have put me at a higher weight loss by now, so that is what I will concentrate on. The sleeve for me is live changing, but also life saving.

You say it best..you get results from the work and commitment put into it...before the sleeve trying to lose was a very frustrating process, but if you follow your dr. And Nut program , you definitely enjoy success in your weight loss efforts!

I would say YES to all of the statements in the original post! Lol. I just posted my 6 month post op update on my blog (linked in my signature) and I talked about just that....all the wonderful ways my life has changed. And an added bonus is that I keep being told I look 10 years younger :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
