I have difficulty meeting my Protein target of 60-80 g per day -- the only way I can really come close and know that I'm making it is to record the food I eat. I use Fitness Pal, and there are other software programs out there.

I have to make recording a habit, but it certainly makes eating habits clear.

You may want to consider the same thing if you really want to know how much protein you're intaking.

How are you meeting your Protein requirements? Protein powder? I find it hard to meet my Protein grams daily but it's almost impossible to meet my liquids daily. As a result, I'm 2-weeks (almost 3) post-op and completely stalled in losing weight my entire 2nd week. Needless to say that I'm rather bummed right now.

Cabingirl, do you know if I can change my calorie intake in myfitnesspal to reflect the bariatric diet? It asked me certain questions and then decided what my daily calorie intake should be and I can't change it, therefore, I don't find it very useful.

For my first few weeks during purree and liquid phases i did alot of Protein Powder. I got the lemon tea flavor nectar which i mixed with 8 oz of Water and each shake is 25 grams. So with 2 i got 50 grams plus 16 oz of water. Also i used unflavored in a blender with fat free yogurt or Sugar Free Chocolate pudding ice and PB2 powder. I could make a shake that was at least 35-40 grams that way. Ill have to try this app see how that works. Thanks.

I have no idea what your eating and drinking. But I found I could meet my Protein easily with fluids due to high Protein drinks and shakes and no limit on Fluid. But with food, a measly 3 oz of anything is just not that much Protein. I end up supplementing it with Protein Drinks or powder. food just doesn't have that much for the little amount we can eat and if you don't watch the amount the calories will be too high. Very tough balance.

I think if you track your actual ounces and protein in your food, you might find it to be low instead of over.

Prior to my surgery, my nut advised me not to worry if I could not reach my Protein goal the first month. Now that I am 7 weeks out , no problem. Aldo, the suggestion of using my fitness pal is great. I love this website ..it is easy to use and their food data base is more than awesome. I monitor my calorie intake and grams of protein per day. I am at present 800 cal, 65 -70 grams of protein per day It takes the guessing work out and I know for sure I am following post op protocol.
