Surgery tomorrow morning!

Recommended Posts

Well, I made it! For those who have not read my previous post I started this journey at 269 lbs and have tried many things to control my weight, some worked not for long but nothing stuck. I had four months of nutritionist appointments. I was required to do a psych evaluation due to my young age, as well as lab work and the usual. I started my pre op diet Jan 14th but I have made the neccesary changes to my eating habits before then.

I am now a whopping 239 as of today, lost two sizes in jeans, and all before my surgery. It has been hard, and I've learned a lot about myself. I thought I was confident before, I never knew how much my weight truly limited me in what I could do, I never thought I was an emotional eater.

All these things are challenges. It's just a wall I had to break down to get past, and I can proudly say I have thus far and I'm not tired yet.

Tomorrow morning at 9:30 all my hard work will be paid off and I will be recieving the lap band procedure. Wish me luck! I'll keep you updated!

If any pre oppers and people interested in lap band have any questions I will gladly assist. Also message me for support if you need it to help you get to that surgery date!

Good luck tomorrow! Just a suggestion - you should also post this is the Lap-Band Forum for pre-oppers (Lap-Band) that may have questions.

It is cooooold! Thankfully we are high 20s low 30s and the sun finally came out. I live north of Houston. So the sweeping arctic blast actually last minute swept to the east. Thankfully! Not as much ice as predicted but It tried!

And I'm not used to this, I'm used to the deadly summer weather haha

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
