I think the biggest issue is sitting for so long (dont' wan't to risk blood clots so close to surgery), as long as you take breaks so you can walk around a bit, I don't see why it would be a problem. A medical professional may differ. Worst case, call your surgeons office, I'm sure they can advise.

Yeah just make sure that you are able to move around a bit. Also a big thing is PREPARE beforetime a plan of what you will be able to eat, bring stuff with you or know where you will be able to get whatever is on your list of foods because it is easy to screw up when you travel and not be as careful so make sure to prepare your menu and have a plan! Enjoy your time with your hubby! Be safe!

I agree with AllisonKara - it's really up to your surgeon. I know that my surgeon did not want me traveling that far from home for a minimum of 6 weeks.

As said before, best to consult your surgeon. I was not allowed to travel at all for 6 weeks. Hope it works out for you.

A while back there was, IMHO, a really good thread on traveling and helpful hints/tips and experiences. You can try searching for it (and I do hope Karma comes round for you in the best of ways)!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
