ChunkyMonkey 13 Posted January 29, 2014 I work with a lady and she greets me with some form of this every day. Hi skinny or something to that effect.. ...in front of people, which is embarrassing for me. How can I drop the hint that I want her to stop. I know there was a topic about this at some point but didn't really read it because I guess I never thought it would happen to me lol. And I searched for it but couldn't find anything. Thanks! CubsWinCubsWin 108 Posted January 29, 2014 This person at work may be manifesting their own issues on you by making comments about your appearance. Of course this person may not know they are saying something that offends you or makes you feel uncomfortable. I have been unknowingly guilty of saying stupid things. This person may need to be told to cool it on the comments and that it may be inappropriate for the workplace. This is something you can do yourself or bring it up to your direct supervisor and they can advise you on the proper way to handle the situation at your office. I have learned a long time ago the mistake of running up to HR to report abuse by a co-worker. If you can, try to talk to the co-worker to diffuse the situation, they may not know they are being a jerk.
ChunkyMonkey 13 Posted January 30, 2014 Can anyone think of a joking-ish reply I could use? I hate confrontation and would love if the light bulb just went off on its own for her. 1 gourmetone reacted to this
gourmetone 394 Posted January 31, 2014 Tell her yes I have skin-on-my-knee It sounds so stupid but say it and keep it moving. When she scratches her head just smile. She will get tired before you do.
